A Dallas buddy and fellow Louisianian works downtown where he recently tried Jeff Sinelli's newest concept, Which Wich. Dallas area folks would recognize him as the founder of a well known establishment: Genghis Grill. Genghis Grill took off as a hot concept in the last few years and Jeff successfully sold it.
It appears that Jeff has not been sitting on his hands. Which wich has opened in downtown Dallas offering: "Superior sandwiches," "Superior environment," and "Superior people." With inclusion of regionally available ingredients, recycled chairs, floors and renewable energy use, they seem intent on creating something more than a generic franchise with little character.
I'm anxious to try it. At $4 a sandwich and counter service, it's hard to lose. If you work in a downtown tower, you've likely seen their deliver staff on Segways! Now, there's a Purple Cow for marketing. In the linked story, I found at the following comments encourging and personally meaningful: * "I’m self-diagnosed ADD, and it translates into my entrepreneurial style. I don’t tend to do things by the textbook, and when I first started in the restaurant business, it was all from the hip." * "My ideas come from constant research and a lot of day-dreaming and asking “What if?” Ideas can come from anywhere: conversation, travel, media, etc....I think I am also good at spotting industry trends before they hit. I’m like a surfer constantly looking for the next big wave." * "It helps that I truly enjoy my job and the freedom to explore new ideas. There are millions of great ideas out there, but you have to take risks to make things happen. It’s better than waking up when you are 80 and wishing that you had done things differently. That is the kind of “what if” in life that I want to avoid." Read the full story while it's still living: QSR Magazine | The QSR Interview | Jeff Sinelli<
